For general boucle maintenance, the most important thing you can do is vacuum your boucle sofa or chair every one to two weeks – this will help the overall hue of your material to avoid being dulled by dust particles. Maintaining your new rug is a simple formula of regular vacuuming (and no muddy feet!) but rug stains can be daunting. For wet stains, opt for a paper towel or non-dyed cloth to absorb the stain immediately. Follow this with lukewarm water and a cloth or sponge to dissolve the stain gently, soak up the water with a cloth, and repeat until the stain fades. If the stain is greasy or increasingly stubborn, use a PH-neutral and bleach-free cleaner or furniture shampoo and follow the steps above.
Dry stains simply need to be scraped and vacuumed away. Avoid using drenching the fabric, dry cleaning or steam cleaning and never use harsh chemicals or bleach on your rug. Don’t be afraid to get professional help if necessary.
